In this issue, we introduce the new Oris model newly launched by the Original Factory, with the official reference: Oris AQUIS Series 01 733 7730 4158-07 8 24 05PEB wristwatch. The authentic version of this model launched a new color scheme in 2023 called “Cherry Red,” also known as “Burgundy Red”—a highly enduring hue. First, let’s look at the sunburst dial texture, which is very beautiful. We have previously reviewed some solid-color versions with black, blue, and green dials for you; interested viewers can check those out. This is a model newly released in July last year. Oris’s retail price is actually not high, with an official website selling price of ¥16,800, making it a relatively affordable brand—more suitable for white-collar workers who have just started their careers or low-key enthusiasts, as this model features a genuine Swiss movement at a reasonable price. Compared to brands like Longines, this brand’s watch style is more youthful.
The overall appearance of this timepiece falls into the category of dive watches, and its design style is somewhat reminiscent of the Rolex Yacht-Master. The bezel, case, and bracelet are all made of 316L stainless steel, with overall polishing that is meticulous and well-executed.
The bezel’s engravings feature a relief process, and the sapphire crystal glass is exceptionally transparent as a whole.
The burgundy red sunburst dial is delicate and shimmers in sunlight.
The dial details are very clean, including the luminous fillings in its hour markers, which are flawlessly applied. This watch has a diameter of 43.5mm, making it very suitable for Chinese wrist sizes. The thickness is approximately 13mm, the same as the original, so its dimensional data is completely accurate. The waterproof crown is designed to be rotated counterclockwise to unscrew, allowing water resistance to be maintained. Winding is done clockwise, pulling out the crown to the first position adjusts the date, and the second position adjusts the time. The Swiss movement offers a smooth and reliable feel. After adjusting, push the crown in and twist it clockwise firmly to ensure durability.
With a transparent caseback design, the sapphire glass reveals a Swiss SW200-1 movement, the same base movement as the original. The original movement model is 733, but it is essentially an SW200 with modified engravings and an automatic rotor to create their in-house model. Early movements from brands like Omega, IWC, and Cartier were also produced in this way, demonstrating how high brand premium rates can be!
The 316L stainless steel bracelet is paired with a double-push folding clasp. The overall finishing is primarily brushed, offering a comfortable fit that does not pinch the skin. The folding clasp has a smooth opening and closing mechanism. Additionally, there is a quick-adjustment extension buckle inside the clasp.
Overall, this Original Factory Oris AQUIS series wristwatch is an excellent choice for both personal use and gifting. In the past, many parallel importers used to sell such watches as genuine products due to their high-quality craftsmanship and movements identical to the originals, resulting in some very high selling prices—especially five or six years ago, when many were sold for ¥7,000–¥8,000 or even ¥5,000–¥6,000. Sometimes authentic models sold very well at 50% or even 30% discounts. Of course, our price is definitely in the range of just over ¥2,000.
