Hello everyone, this is Boji Watch Industry. Today’s review is about the V7 Factory IWC Portofino IW356501. This model has been on the market for three years now. Previously, only MK Factory produced it well, and currently, both MK and V7 Factory are doing a good job in the market. However, we highly recommend V7 Factory’s version because it uses the Seagull 2892 movement, while MK uses the 9015 movement. The 9015 movement is noisier – when you wear it and shake your hand, the automatic rotor of the movement sounds like a helicopter, constantly rattling as it spins. However, both movements are equally stable. The Seagull 2892 movement is quieter, which is an advantage over the 9015 in this aspect.
What are the advantages of V7 Factory’s IWC Portofino IW356501 Red 60 compared to MKS Factory’s version?
In terms of appearance, both factories are comparable, but V7 Factory has a better color accuracy on the dial compared to MK. The dial of V7 is slightly off-white, not purplish-white, which is the correct shade. Additionally, its glass mirror has a blue anti-reflective coating—when viewed at an angle, the blue tint is obvious and even more distinct under sunlight. The glass is also more transparent. MK’s glass mirror lacks this coating, which is a key detail for authenticity.
The dial’s index markers and silver hands have been polished: each marker is rounded at both the tail and top, with exquisite finishing that shows no flaws up close. The hands are thick and aesthetically pleasing. The red “60” marker at the 6 o’clock position is accurately reproduced, and the date window features a stepped design centered correctly. For time adjustment, the crown pulls out directly: pulling it up winds the movement (with a faint “zipping” sound), pulling it out one notch adjusts the date downward, and pulling it out fully adjusts the time. The Seagull 2892 movement in V7 allows time adjustment by turning the crown downward (clockwise), which is correct. In contrast, MK’s 9015 movement requires turning the crown upward (counterclockwise), which is inaccurate. While the exteriors are similar, V7 surpasses MK in dial color, glass coating, and movement functionality. Currently, V7 Factory offers the best version of this model, making other factories negligible in comparison—especially given its high cost-effectiveness and meticulous craftsmanship.
The watch comes with a calfskin leather strap that softens after a week of wear. While slightly stiff initially, it adapts comfortably over time, ideal for smaller wrists (larger wrists may find it less flattering). The buckle features engraved text on both the front and back.
V7’s packaging includes a card, sticker, and a “three-code matching” system (the serial numbers on the caseback, card, and sticker are identical, unique to each watch). MK lacks these accessories, though they are largely decorative—ultimately, the watch’s quality hinges on its craftsmanship and details, where V7 excels.
