Dear watch enthusiasts, hello everyone. Bokey Watch Industry has been engaged in watches for ten years, specializing in evaluations. In the process of engaging with watches, many enthusiasts are concerned about one issue: Factory C’s currently released Rolex Daytona models come with the new 4131 movement and the old 4130 movement. Therefore, some enthusiasts feel confused and unsure about how to choose. Here, we will provide a detailed introduction from the aspects of appearance details and movement performance.
Taking the Factory C Rolex Gray Rubber Daytona as an example, the one on the left in the picture above is the new gray rubber Daytona, equipped with the 4131 movement. The one on the right is the old gray rubber Daytona, featuring the 4130 movement. Generally speaking, both the new and old Daytona models boast excellent craftsmanship in terms of details. In terms of movements, the 4130 movement is produced by Dandong Factory, while the 4131 movement is made by Shanghai Factory. Both movements offer very good stability. The new movement is slightly inferior to the old one in terms of performance, but the difference is extremely small.
In terms of appearance details, the edge of the old ceramic bezel has no wrapping, while the new ceramic bezel is equipped with a metal frame on the outside, which plays a better role in protecting the ceramic bezel. Then let’s look at the details of the dial. The scale markers on the old dial are short and a bit thick, while those on the new dial are slender and thinner. Therefore, the visual effect depends on personal preference, as watch enthusiasts have different aesthetics.
Among the two dial faces, there are basically no obvious changes in the three sub-dials. In addition, the new Daytona has a Rolex crown logo added at the 6 o’clock position, which is also a place that is relatively easy to distinguish.
In terms of the back of the case, the brushed flat surface of the new gray rubber Daytona is larger. When the back cover is removed to look at the movement, there are also some differences in the appearance and style of the movement. However, Rolex Daytonas are basically designed with a closed back, so the movement is completely invisible during daily wear. Therefore, the impact is not very significant.
In terms of the details of the clasp and strap, the straps are basically interchangeable, but the clasp structure of the new Daytona is different. The new Daytona’s clasp features a quick-sliding adjustment mechanism, making it more convenient and efficient to adjust the length, while the old model requires tools for fine-tuning the clasp.
However, since we’ve talked about the advantages of the C Factory Daytona, we should also mention some invisible drawbacks. For this gray rubber Daytona, or rather all precious metal Rolex watches, the counter uses 18K white gold or 18K yellow gold materials, but the C Factory currently uses 904L stainless steel with PVD plating. Therefore, in terms of the weight of the watch, the C Factory’s gray rubber Daytona is much lighter than the counter version. In addition, the PVD plating will gradually fade due to daily wear and tear, which will become more noticeable after about two years of wearing. So, for those who want to own a precious metal Rolex, you can consider customizing a weighted case and 18K gold plating, which can solve these problems very well.
